Black Horizon – The End of A Beginning

“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” – Carl Jung

It was a long walk towards the offices of Furieux Extraction. On the way, Commander Deuil Furieux, kept his head down to avoid anyone recognising him. The general feeling around Elswick Station was a much calmer one since the brief war between the Federal owners and the upstart Justice Party had ended. Those who lived and worked on it where returning to their normal lives. While the short but vicious battle resulted in a victory for Zeta Tucane Legal, as Furieux had anticipated, he couldn’t help but feel for the independents. He knew that Legal’s victory would please his father, however...

Zeta Tucanae – Nineveh’s Kiss

“Hallow be their name, and blessed be their claim; if you who trespass put down roots, then hallow be your name.”  –  Lebor Gabála Érenn (The Book of Invasions)

Velidhu Dream was a starport just like any other. The ageing Coriolis design with its iconic shape and towering inverted skyscrapers was commonly seen throughout the populated galaxy. Though the newer Orbis and Ocellus style stations were more striking and pleasing to the eye, the majority of trading hubs were still based on the old cuboctahedral blueprint. From an internal perspective, most stations looked identical with very little clues as to which structural design they adhered to...

Zeta Tucanae – Bad Business and Drowning Angels

“There are drowning angels at the bottom of every one of these glasses, friend, and if I rescue them all,  perhaps they will make me a saint.” – CMDR Deuil Furieux

Ettiene Furieux pored over the data on the holographic displays embedded into a desk, in a room deep below the confines of Furieux House on Darwyn. The lower levels of the building were dedicated to the day to day running of the business, both legal and otherwise. The bulk of central operations were done from an orbital station, but Ettiene preferred to work on the surface with a few select employees.   The extraction company had been running for one hundred and six standard years and had stayed afloat through many market fluctuations, seen profits rise and fall but it nonetheless remained as a family run corporation...

The ‘Lady Muck’ – Gutamaya Imperial Clipper

The Imperial Clipper is the quintessential Imperial ship. It epitomises elegance of form while delivering speed and agility. Because of its balance of speed, luxury and strength it is used for transporting valuable items and personnel of importance across the Empire.

The Lady Muck was purchased soon after Furieux arrived at the Gliese 900.1 system in aid of Emperor’s Grace. The Imperial faction quickly bestowed enough rank upon him after he proved himself loyal to their cause and granted him the required license to fly the exclusive vessel. The immense trading potential and eventual part exchange of the Type-7, Viridian Embrace allowed Furieux to purchase the Lady Muck outright. In addition, the subsequent sale of the Lakon Asp Explorer, Pale Sincerity, gave Furieux the means to out...

The ‘Delicate Heart’ – Saud Kruger Orca

Saud Kruger are famed for their range of luxury passenger vessels. This is their top of the line vessel (although they do offer custom built vessels that are bigger) and is capable of carrying passengers in extreme comfort and elegance. For its size and class it’s also quite capable of defending itself.

The Delicate Heart is Furieux’s most prized posession. Purchased soon after he and the 8th Dragon Squadron completed the contract for Emperor’s Grace in the Gliese 900.1 system and Furieux flew the Delicate Heart almost exclusively during the 8th Dragon Campaigns in Lushertha and Caerus, only exchanging it when combat situations demanded more combat oriented ships such as the smaller Core Dynamics Vulture, Hopes Descent...

Caerus – The Hunt: Part II

Excerpt from the voicelog of CMDR Anais Furieux

The assigned task given to me by the Freedom Party of Caerus is complete.  The FPoC had better be forthcoming with the promised information on my brother’s whereabouts. It was not as simple a mission as anticipated and it did not come without trouble. Detailed deep scans of all three nebulae and their surrounding areas have been successfully logged. I have to admit that under different circumstances the expedition may well have been a joy and a wonder. Sadly, throughout the trip my mind was plagued with worry for Deu, ruining what could have been a wonderful trip full of discovery and enlightenment. The Delicate Heart is a magnificent ship, most assuredly a step up from the battered old Sidewinder that belonged to my grandfather...

Caerus – The Hunt: Part I

Excerpt from the voicelog of CMDR Anais Furieux

I have left the system of Caerus. Fitting my brother’s Saud Kruger, the ‘Delicate Heart’, with all the trappings of an explorer vessel, I have laid in a course for Hyadum I. Following a meeting with Freedom Party Leaders Nandez and Ramirez, where I appeared to have found some allies, at least I have a lead. It did take some bartering however, Nandez was courteous enough, but that brute of a woman aggravates me so. Deuil described her as enchanting? Enchanting!! She has the mannerisms of a cheap bar wench. My brother never did have the best taste in women. I still cannot believe she had the nerve to repeatedly label me ‘little Federation princess’...

Caerus – A Universal Hangover

“Sweet Mother of all Tucans!” yelled Furieux, gasping for air as he jolted awake and instantly smacked his pounding head in the darkness. He attempted to raise his hand to rub the pain away but discovered his space was restricted. He felt as if he was in a coffin. Closing his eyes, he tried to recover his wits and some memory of recent events, but the dream he had just experienced gripped his psyche, refusing to unhook its vivid claws from his mind. His throat was dry. He wanted a drink. Any drink. Even water would do. He licked his lips and concentrated. He listened. A soft hiss interspersed with rhythmic ticking and the odd digital bleep reached his ears. He recognised the sound of an an escape capsule. Why was he here though? He concentrated. The Orca...

Shokwa – The Best Laid Plans

“Where the hell is Dex?” screamed Ramirez in the FPoC HQ Intelligence room. Geryk Lepinski continued tapping away at his terminal as if he hadn’t heard. “Hey Kimono-boy, you listening?” she asked again.

Lepinksi sighed dramatically and spun around in his chair.

“He left two days ago with no explanation as to why or where he was going. Probably having another one of his ‘episodes’. You know him as well as I do, or better, as the case may be.” he smirked.

Ramirez scowled at him and threw up her hands in resignation. The relationship between her and the leader of the Freedom Party was no secret to members of the group but Ramirez didn’t like to talk about it. She rapidly changed the subject...

Caerus – A New Dawn

All across the surface of Caerus 5 people rejoiced. Citizens of all nations worldwide were celebrating the downfall of Caerus Systems and the sudden rise to power of the Freedom Party. No longer bound to Federal law, people felt liberated, free, and the future seemed so very much brighter. News channels systemwide were praising Nandez on his victory, who had not made himself available to any media companies. Lt. General Ramirez however, was seen giving an interview on one of the more prominent talk shows broadcast in the sector. Caerus Comms Partners had issued a press release  saying that they will no longer be supporting Caerus Systems or any more Federal incursions into the system...
